Mrs Amonkar has been with Mahindra & Mahindra since 2002. She previously held positions in the legal departments of several well known companies including Procter and Gamble India Ltd, Shaw Wallace & Company, Modi Entertainment Group and North Kanara GSB Co-operative Bank.

In her current position, Mrs Amonkar is responsible for a wide range of legal activites including mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, corporate law, secretarial matters, intellectual property, labour law and criminal and consumer cases. Mrs Amonkar received her LLM from Mumbai University.



Shamnad Basheer

Shamnad Basheer is the Frank H Marks Visiting Associate Professor of Intellectual Property at the George Washington University Law School, one of the top intellectual property law schools in the United States.

After graduating from law school, Professor Basheer joined Anand and Anand, a leading intellectual property law firm in New Delhi, where he worked on a variety of contentious and non-contentious IP matters before heading the firm’s IT and telecommunications law division. He completed a bachelor of civil law degree with distinction at Oxford as a Shell Centenary scholar, where his thesis dealing with biotechnology and patent law in India was awarded the second prize in a writing contest held by the Stanford Technology Law Review.

He is currently an associate with the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre and is a Wellcome Trust scholar in the doctoral program at Oxford. His research interests include patents and developing countries and the interface between patents and antitrust. He has spoken on these themes at various conferences and also published papers in leading technology journals. He is currently authoring a book on Indian patent law.



Himavat Chaudhuri

Himavat Chaudhuri is General Counsel to NDTV Imagine. He has extensive experience in offering legal solutions, having previously worked as General Counsel at STAR TV, and in a legal and commercial role at Discovery Channel. Prior to going in house, he worked with Arthur Andersen, AZB & Partners, and British Airways in their New Delhi offices. Himavat studied History at St Stephen’s College, New Delhi, prior to studying law at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.






Professor A Jayagovind
Vice Chancellor & Professor of International Trade Law
National Law School of India University


Professor Jayagovind specializes in international economic law. He was awarded his doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1976 for his dissertation on the international legal framework of currency convertibility. He has been associated with the National Law School of India University, Bangalore since 1988 and he took over as the Vice-Chancellor of the University in 2003.

Doug Jones is an international infrastructure and dispute resolution lawyer of worldwide repute. He is a Sydney-based partner of Clayton Utz where he heads the Construction, Major Projects and International Arbitration practice groups.

Doug has extensive experience as counsel and arbitrator in international and domestic arbitrations, and in advising on project structuring and financing, contract drafting and project implementation and on major privately and publicly financed infrastructure projects.

RS Loona is the managing partnet of Alliance Corporate Lawyers, a law firm based in Mumbai. He was previously the executive director (law) at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and he is still a member of SEBI's takeover panel. Mr Loona has acquired vast experience in corporate and commercial laws besides having expertise in banking and securities laws.

He has been part of the process of evolution of infrastructure financing in India, particularly, in the finalization of the Model Concession Agreement in the road sector, the Tripartite Agreement in the telecom sector and the Escrow Agreement in the power sector. Mr. Prasanna commenced his career as a litigator before switching to the corporate sector. He has worked for over twenty seven years with different organizations including General Insurance Corporation of India, Alfa Laval, Brooke Bond India Limited (now part of Unilever) and Larsen & Toubro Limited. Mr. Prasanna is currently the Group Executive President responsible for the legal function of Aditya Birla Group. He is also an adviser to the Managing Committee of Bombay Chamber and the Co-Chairperson of the Legal Affairs Committee of Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.

Mr. Prasanna is a member of the International Bar Association. He sits on the board of a number of companies including: Aditya Birla Minerals Limited (Australia); Utkal Alumina International Limited; Idea Cellular Limited; Birla Management Centre Services Limited; Mahan Coal Company Limited and Trinethra Superretail Private Limited.
